Clayton School District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community concert as its first official event to celebrate the opening of a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center. Superintendent Nick Koutsogiannis, Board of Education President Anthony Grafton, and seniors from the choir and band helped cut the ribbon to officially open the center.
“This a great opportunity for not only our students to showcase their talents but the community as a whole,” says Koutsogiannis. “For our high school students to say they finally have an auditorium instills a great sense of pride.”
Choir Director Sarah Mickle began the ceremony by leading the choir in the singing of the school alma mater followed by the cutting of the ribbon. After comments by Koutsogiannis and Grafton, the choir and band each performed songs. The ceremony concluded with a combined performance of the two groups and closing comments from Mickle and Band Director Dave Dashefsky.
The Performing Arts Center was part of the Bond Referendum, which was passed last year by the town.
