Herma-Simmons Elementary School was anti-violence week Oct 19-Oct 26 . The Guidance Counselor Lisa Atanasio invited the Clayton Police Department to attend lunch with a student who exemplified respect, politeness, good manners, and was a role model student. Numerous students received Caring Coupons for being respectful, doing good deeds, and in general being good students. The tickets were then collected and Mrs. Atanasio pulled a random ticket belonging to Alana Gannon. Alana Gannon then chose two additional friends to invite to lunch with her, Cheyenne Evans and Taylor Siciliano. Sgt. Andrew Davis and Ptlm. James Mayo shared lunch (Nick’s Pizza) with the students. Everyone had a great time. Later Sgt. Mark Konnick arrived and congratulated the students for a job well done. The Police Department gave the students trick or treat bags with some goodies and shared some trick or treating safety tips for upcoming Halloween.
Quote from Sgt. Davis, “It was a pleasure to have lunch with all the students. Even though the lunch was supposed to be a reward for the student’s good behavior, I felt I had been the one truly rewarded. The Herma Simmons School Staff and the parents of the students should be commended for doing a great job in bringing up the next generation of good citizens.”
