Dear Clayton School Community:
The purpose of this communication is to bring your attention to a disturbing new trend that has emerged on
TikTok, a popular social network aimed at school-aged children, and to review information with you
regarding masks in schools.
First, our children are being encouraged to record and post negative behaviors as “challenges” that are
inappropriate and, in some cases, criminal in nature and post them on TikTok. I want to make our Clayton
families aware of the trend and am asking you to take the time to engage your children in conversations
about this negative behavior. It is important that our kids understand that these behaviors will not be
tolerated in school or on school grounds. We appreciate your assistance in reinforcing the seriousness of
this message. I thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping communicate this message to our
Second, our school district continues to follow the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines based on information
from the NJDOE, NJDOH, and CDC. Face coverings are a mandated COVID-19 prevention strategy in all
public schools, and parents/guardians are responsible for providing a face covering for their children.
Please remind them to bring their face masks to school daily. For students who continue to forget or lose
their masks, we will need to notify parents/guardians to drop off a face mask for their child. If there are any
cases where families may need assistance with providing face coverings on a consistent basis, please feel
free to reach out to your school’s administration for assistance.
Thank you for your attention to these important matters. We value and appreciate your support.
With Clipper Pride,
Nikolaos C. Koutsogiannis
Superintendent of Schools
