Clayton Middle School Science Fair

Clayton Middle School’s Annual Science Fair

February 9th, 2022

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,

As you know, each 8th grade student and 7th grade honors student has been working on a Science Fair project. All Science Fair projects are due Tuesday, February 22, 2022.  Your student’s science teacher will grade the project according to the rubric provided in class. The projects will be on display in the school media center from February 23-24 for students and staff to see. The parents and the community will have the opportunity to see the projects at the Science Fair Night on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at 6pm.  The winners will also be announced and given an award at that time.

Below are a few reminders in regards to the Science Fair:

  • The project must be displayed on a tri-fold backboard (36” tall x 48” wide). For your convenience, the school has supplied each student with a plain white tri-fold board.  The final Science Fair project must be displayed on the board in order to be judged and graded.
  • If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Science Fair, please contact your child’s teacher.

A successful science project is one in which a student has tested his/her hypothesis. Whether the hypothesis is valid or invalid, and whether the experiment “works” the way you expected is less important than how carefully the experiment is conducted. Often the best experiments are those that disprove the hypothesis. If an experiment does not work out as expected, much information can be gained. We are looking for a well-planned and carefully considered project. We hope that it will be fun, too!  We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, February 24th!

Thank you in advance for all your encouragement and support during the Clayton Middle School Science Fair.

Sincerely,

Clayton Middle School Science Department
